Along the Waves is a community app built as an emotional network for motherhood — a place where mothers can connect, share and feel seen, without the noise of a traditional social feed.
We turned the concept into a warm, focused mobile experience: product discovery, UI/UX design, native iOS and Android development, backend integration, QA and deployment.
Motherhood can be one of the most isolating experiences in life, even when a mother is surrounded by people.
Sleepless nights, identity shifts, the pressure to get things right, and the quiet transitions — a child starting school, a teenager pulling away, an empty house — often happen without anyone to talk to who truly understands. Large social platforms can feel performative and overwhelming, parenting forums are often noisy or focused only on the baby, and tracking apps measure feeds and sleep but not how the mother herself is doing.
Along the Waves was created as a connection that feels meaningful, not overwhelming: a calm space to check in, celebrate small wins, encourage each other and be matched with others in the same season of life — quick and gentle enough for a few spare minutes and one free hand.
We approached Along the Waves as a community product where emotional safety, simplicity and genuine connection were central to every decision.
Requirements shaped around one question: how can a mother feel less alone in under a minute a day, without being pulled into an endless feed?
A warm, calm interface in keeping with the “waves” theme, with core actions kept to a few taps.
Small, stage-based Micro-Groups instead of one large public feed, so honest conversation is more likely.
Swift on iOS and Kotlin on Android, covering onboarding, check-ins, Glimmers, Love Notes, group chat and mindfulness.
Daily-use loops refined until checking in, sharing and responding felt quick, encouraging and never demanding.
Released on the App Store (October 2025) and Google Play, and still receiving regular updates.
Traditional social platforms are built around endless feeds, likes and comparison. For a tired or struggling mother, that adds pressure instead of relieving it.
We centred the experience on small, low-effort interactions — a quick mood check-in, a single Glimmer, a short Love Note — so users connect in seconds and leave feeling better, not drained.
A mother of a newborn and a mother of a teenager face very different days. One community risks mixing conversations relevant to neither.
Stage-based onboarding and Micro-Groups match users with mothers in a similar season, from trying to conceive through the teenage years and beyond.
Mothers are often hesitant to share honestly online for fear of judgment.
Groups stay small, the product is framed around encouragement, and positive-first features like Love Notes and Glimmers lead. Mood check-ins show others feel the same, which normalises hard days.
Most parenting apps track the baby — feeds, sleep, milestones — and leave the mother’s wellbeing out of the picture.
We built the product around the mother herself: how she feels, what went well today, and short Mindful Moments that help her pause, breathe and reset.
Users share sensitive emotional and family information, so privacy has to be a visible part of the experience.
Data is encrypted in transit and users can request deletion of their data, as declared in the app’s Google Play data safety listing.
Both apps were developed natively, giving a consistent community experience while leveraging the strengths of each platform.
In-app messaging on a cloud backend forms the real-time foundation of how mothers connect with each other.
Matching logic places users into groups based on their stage of motherhood, keeping conversations relevant and personal.
Short entries that users can share with the community or keep privately as reflections.
Short meditations and reminders are delivered in-app, supported by notifications that prompt users to take a moment.
Users can request data deletion. The app is rated 12+ on Google Play because users interact with each other.
As the development partner, our agency was involved in transforming the product concept into a complete mobile application, live on both stores.
A focused community platform built around one of the most common and least talked-about challenges of motherhood: loneliness. On Google Play it has 1K+ downloads and a 4.3-star rating from 26 reviews.
Along the Waves turns connection into simple daily moments — a check-in, a Glimmer, a Love Note — and places mothers in small groups with others who understand exactly where they are. Users describe it as warm, welcoming and easy to use, and say it has helped them feel less alone; early feedback already points to the next step, local neighbourhood circles and meetup spaces. Our team delivered it as dedicated Swift and Kotlin apps, making every stage of motherhood feel more connected, supported and seen.
