Group travel involves many moving parts — itineraries, activities, communication, expenses, packing, schedules and memories. Via brings all of them together in one platform, for hosts and travellers alike.
We partnered with Via from the ground up: product discovery, UI/UX design, native iOS and Android development, API integration, QA and deployment.
Group travel is exciting, but organising a trip with several people quickly becomes complicated.
Important information ends up scattered across group chats, spreadsheets, notes, expense-sharing tools and cloud storage. That makes it harder for hosts to coordinate their groups and for travellers to keep track of what they need before and during a trip.
Via was conceived as a centralised digital experience for group travel — planning, communication, collaboration, expenses, preparation and memory sharing in one place. It also had to support two distinct experiences: hosts who create and manage trips, build itineraries and coordinate participants, and travellers who discover trips, join experiences, personalise their schedules and stay prepared.
We managed the project end-to-end, following a structured development process that let the product evolve through multiple phases.
Product vision, business requirements and the workflows both hosts and travellers expected — core functionality and user journeys defined before design.
Flows, wireframes and high-fidelity interfaces, focused on making multi-day itineraries, expenses and checklists readable on a phone.
Android in Kotlin and iOS in Swift, with features progressively implemented, integrated, tested and refined.
Every phase tested for consistency across both platforms, then deployed to the App Store and Google Play.
Hosts need management and coordination tools. Travellers need a streamlined experience built around discovery, participation and personalisation. The requirements are fundamentally different.
We structured the product around each user type's responsibilities while holding one consistent design language — so advanced host workflows exist without overwhelming travellers.
Group trips need a shared itinerary, but individuals have their own flights and plans. A purely shared schedule is too rigid; entirely separate ones make coordination impossible.
Travellers interact with the shared trip itinerary while also holding their own travel details and activities — group coordination and personal flexibility in the same view.
Communication, itineraries, expenses, packing lists, discovery and media sharing are normally handled in separate tools. They had to feel like one product, not a collection of features.
We organised the platform around the complete travel journey, connecting features through one navigation structure so travellers stop switching between applications.
Via combines multiple user types, workflows and interconnected features, so consistency had to hold as new functionality arrived.
A phased process let individual modules be developed, integrated, tested and refined progressively — quality maintained while the application steadily expanded.
A shared day plan, with room for each traveller's own additions.

Updates in one thread, decisions settled by a quick vote.

Shared costs tracked, and a checklist the whole group can tick off.

Trips to join before you go, photos and video to keep afterwards.

Both applications were built natively for their platform, giving each one the performance and platform behaviour expected of a first-party experience.
Development ran in structured phases so interconnected features could be added without destabilising what was already shipped.
A design system kept host and traveller experiences consistent, while API integration connected planning, communication, expenses and media into a single product.
As the development partner, our agency was involved throughout the complete product lifecycle — from the first requirement discussions to final deployment on both stores.
A group travel platform that brings planning, coordination, communication, expenses, preparation and memory sharing into one connected experience.
Via gives hosts the tools to organise and manage group experiences, and travellers an intuitive way to discover trips, take part, manage their own schedules and stay connected throughout the journey — delivered across iOS and Android in native Swift and Kotlin.
